Pioneers Top Hilltoppers

p>I shot the second half of Western Kentucky's visit to Magness Arena to battle Denver for the top of the Sun Belt standings and am very happy with the results. Here are some of my shots, shot with a D700 and 80-200 AF-S and a D90 with a Tokina 12-24 on a Mark Watkins floor plate with ballhead.

Looks like my next shoot will be at Pauley Pavillion during USC-UCLA, not 100% sure yet but that is what it is looking like. I'm also the set photographer on the set of a tv-show that will be filming Friday and Saturday so my weekend in L.A. will be jam packed with photographic opportunities. If you'd like to check out the show that I'm set photographer on go to http://boozebabesbeer.com . All the stills are mine :)

Denver Cup

Friday and Saturday I shot the Denver Cup. It was intense, shooting, editing, captioning and submitting two games a day back to back and then doing it again the next day. It was however a very rewarding experience, that showed me how much work must go in to covering the NCAA tournament. I must say it was not just hard and rewarding it was a lot of fun too. I know I'm not supposed to cheer for a team as a member of the media, but as a DU student I couldn't help put root for the Pio's. Here are some of the select shots from the weekend. More shots are available through for licensing by editorial clients from Southcreek Global Media.

I'll be posting a slideshow soon but this is one of my favorite shots of the weekend.

New Years Eve Game in Fort Collins

Just 30 minutes ago Yale fell to Colorado State Rams 93-71.

Yale's Alex Zampier led the game with 31 points but CSU destroyed the Bulldogs in a game that consisted mainly of fouling.

Here are a few shots from the game, unfortunately I underexposed a few so I had to fix it in post which created some noise but overall I'm pretty happy with my results.

The last shot is my favorite from the game as it shows a referee calling a foul on a player on the ground, just seemed to fit with the way the game went for me.

Next update should be in a few days after I'm done shooting the Wells Fargo Denver Cup

Hallowed Halls of Pauley Pavillion

Had the opportunity to shoot at Pauley Pavillion on Tuesday. I was covering the Colorado State Ram's visit to Pauley to take on UCLA. I was on assignment for Mile High Hoops. Used a 300 F/2.8 on a D90 for 450 equivalent and a 70-200 on a D700 all at 2.8. Here are some shots from the second half, as unfortunately most of the first half stuff dissapeared along with my card wallet.

I used the Lightroom 3 Beta to process these and I must say it is much better than Aperture in my opinion and is now my photo management software of choice.

Isiah Thomas Comes to Denver

I got back from New York Wednesday night and Thursday evening I was scheduled to shoot Florida International at University of Denver for Mile High Hoops. Isiah Thomas is the coach of FIU so I made sure to get some shots of him. I set up a remote to focus on the far goal but just my luck each half the team that played the closest to the hoop was on the side opposite of my remote. Here are the shots I grabbed with my handheld. DU won the game.

Also, some other news: I've signed on to shoot for Southcreek Global Media, so you'll see me shooting a greater variety of sports and teams. I'll still post a few images from each game here but you'll see the Southcreek watermark on them. That will let you know that there are more images available at the Southcreek website for purchase for editorial use.

Love this shot but it's not really usable, just cool focus in my opinion.

Next post will be after the Colorado State at UCLA game at Pauley Pavillion unless I end up shooting something between now and then.
